There’s a stretch of Highway 395 near Mono Lake where the world stops looking like Earth for a while. The road cuts through a landscape that feels more like a painting than a place—cracked earth, salt crusts, volcanic rock, and colors that shift from ochre to blue to something you can’t quite name.

This photograph catches that in-between moment, when the road is empty and the light hits just right—when it’s all so quiet, it makes you feel like you're driving across the surface of another planet.

Mono Lake has that strange beauty that doesn’t need explaining. You just pull over, stand still for a second, and let it sink in. This image is a small reminder of what it feels like to be out there—nowhere in particular, and completely okay with that.
