Winter is a hard time on any cattle ranch, but even more so for those in the northern states. On this particular day in Colorado the weather was as unpredictable as it was harsh. Fog would roll in so thick you couldn’t see a cow fifteen feet in front of you, then a minute later it was gone. Luckily, it opened up just right when one of the guys went on the chase. I love the mood in this shot. It exemplifies the reality of what a cowboy deals with day to day. Unlike what Hollywood will have you believe, it’s not all campfires and sunsets.
