California Road Trip Photography

Highway 395

Road tripping just about anywhere in the Eastern Sierra’s is sure to be breathtaking, but there’s something special about Highway 395. Anyone who lives in Southern California that drives up to Bishop or Mammoth knows exactly what this is all about. It’s not just the sheer beauty that the 395 offers, it’s also the growing excitement that starts after getting out of San Diego/Los Angeles, then watching the Sierra’s get bigger with each passing mile. Knowing what lies in store at your destination.

I’ve been driving California’s 395 for almost 20 years and never get sick of it. Sometimes it’s just fun fly fishing or snowboarding trips and other times it’s for a client. No matter what though, I always make extra time to photograph along the way. After years of driving countless miles through the American West, I can say that this route through the Sierra Nevada Mountains ranks right up there with the best road trips in the country.
