Hoop Dreams - Wall Art - Basketball Culture
Was out photographing this basketball hoop in San Diego on one of those days where nothing was coming together. All of the images felt like a waste of time which led to frustration. But I kept going, perhaps out of stubbornness, making one boring frame after the next until the correct angle was found. As it turned out that day, the correct angle was from behind the hoop. The front of this backboard was smooth and freshly painted, offering no character whatsoever. Shooting from the baseline gave an incredible view of the rusted metal and cloudy sky. So I made a handful of long exposures to give the sky some movement and that was that. Sometimes you just have to push through the frustration.
About the prints: all prints are made with a white border to make framing easy with or without a mat.
Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints are hand signed/numbered on museum quality archival fine art Hahnemuhle Baryta paper. In my opinion there is no better medium to print and display fine art photographs on. Its surface is smooth with a subtle texture, and a slightly warm base that produces very pleasing B&W prints reminiscent of platinum prints and meets the highest industry standards regarding density, color gamut, color graduation, and image sharpness while preserving the special touch and feel of genuine art paper.
