The Barber Pole - Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin

Over the past 10 years I’ve been lucky to visit incredible barbershops in all 50 states of the USA. All of them have been memorable for one reason or another. The Barber Pole in Elkhart Lake is obviously unique place. Where else can you find a barbershop inside a silo painted like a barber pole? You can’t. Despite that, there is something else that sticks out - the weather. Don’t let the sunshine fool you. That day in northern Wisconsin was rotten. Shooting inside was warm and welcoming like a barbershop should be. Outside though, the temperature and windchill were unbearable. So cold that my bare heads could feel the camera after just 30 seconds of exposure. So this is one of the only frames made outside that day. Luckily it was a winner.
